  Hints for Attracting Birds

Hints for Attract BirdsDonít be discouraged if it takes time for birds to respond to a new feeder. Frequency of feeding depends on where you live as well as the number of trees and other feeders in your area. A poor winter at the feeder is usually a sign of a mild winter or an abundance of natural food.

Allow privacy for birds when picking out an area for your birdfeeder. Avoid areas where there is excessive noise. Select an area that is quiet and undisturbed. Set the feeder back, away from windows, so indoor activity wonít scare the birds away.

A corner of the yard near trees, shrubs, or a fence is ideal. Cardinals, Blue Jays and Sparrows are usually the first visitors to a new feeder. When Titmouse, Woodpeckers and Nuthatches appear, you have established an effective feeding area.

Keeping the feeder full all year will help assure an abundance of birds.
